Keepsake Box for my oldest Granddaughter

This was something I forgot to post that was made a while ago. It was on another site, so I moved it over here.

My granddaughter is 21 and I wanted to make her something to remind her of me. I live in KS and she lives in NY so we don't see each other very often and not at all for the last few years.

The top of this box has 24 pieces of teak, the walls on the inside are white oak. The floor of the box is nicely figured walnut. The handle on the top is 5 pieces, 4 pieces of some type of spalted wood with a center of maple.

I don't know what type of wood the outside is and the splines are made with the spalted wood. The top and bottom are birch ply and the heart is bloodwood.

I was very happy with the fit on the boxes I made for the girls, it fits so well it rides the air when you put the top on.

Nice combo John, the inside is really dark, how did you treat the oak for that color?
Top has that nice shimmer with the teak. Outside looks like oak?

The air cushion fit means perfect!
Thanks Bruce this was before I knew how to post a project. These last few posts have almost no information. I'm sure I fumed it, but I don't remember and I don't keep notes.

I was thinking fumed, looks really nice and dark. Good fit with the walnut bottom!
Thanks Bruce. Not sure but I probably fumed it. I don't keep notes, and I have a serious case of CRS.
