So I wanted to steam and bend the front board and decided to just slice the backside about 3/16" from the front of the board and it worked really well. I sliced it using my miter saw with the stop set but if I did it again I would make sure that it was set to a better depth cause even though I used the stop I had to set to about an ⅛" instead of the 3/16" which is why I know now that 3/16" will be the good depth cause once I got to sanding and getting to the finish I wanted I could see the lines starting to appear and the more you sand the more they show so gotta be careful about that cause it's going to be near impossible to hide especially if stained. Other than that it came out pretty good and I used finger joints to attach the front to the back.
