"The W1671 Morticing machine" this project was not too fancy but much fun as I finally broke down and purchased a Square hole mortice tool. I had destroyed "Sunset Sam" on a fence rebuild in which i took down the old 80 foot fence in short order at the cost of my favorite mallet..after shaping a pice of 8" x 3.75" x 3.25" white oak i morticed to the small end of the handle and used a handmade carbide saw'all bit holder to cut out rest..carved in a new name and shaped 14" handle to fit.. the new beast weighs in at 3.5 lbs. Finished with linseed oil.
nice job on that mallet. it should handle anything you swing it at ?

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Wacker extraordinaire!
I take it you use it for nailing posts into the ground?
Wow! Now that's a tool that won't get lost. Beautifully done.
Thanks y'all..it is a beast lol
"Beast" was the first word that came to me as well. Watch your fingers while using!😂
