Another Diamond Dot Art frame

My wife requested a  natural edge frame for this latest project. I looked at all kinds of boards to see if I could get one with at least 2 pieces of natural edge that was 34" long. and kinda straight.  These were the best I could find and I cut away all the rest of the wood to save the edge. It ran thick and thin so I did the best I could to match the widths at the corners and then had to fudge a bit to make them the same. The wood I found to fit the  order was eucalyptus and I think the red in the heartwood adds to the red tone in the art piece. I did no filling on it at all and left all the cracks and imperfections for a true natural look. I did add some 1/4" x 1/4" splines across the corners in the back for strength.

It is about 12 " x 32" and finished with Danish Oil and clear satin enamel.

Well done Jim!!!

I'd call that a success!
Really like the free-form-ness of that.

You have to be running low on wall space!
You two are working well together! The artwork is so pretty and your frame is a great match.
It came out great Jim. Like another said you guys work well together. The color blends right in with the artwork.

It looks like a fine work of art. Keep up the great work.

Thank you all very much for the nice comments. She is very happy with it so it is a success!!
The miter sled that I use gages the frame members on the inside where my miter saw gages them from the outside. With natural edge frames like this, gaging on the outside would not be an option.

Hi Bruce, we are short of wall space in this 5 bedroom house. One picture came down and this took its place!!
