Cabinet for the SWMBO
This is a cabinet I built for dog supplies to go on our 4 seasons porch. For you all in a warm climate, we have porches with windows in Iowa...windows that close to keep the winter or heat out. They are basically just another room...we just call them a porch.
This cabinet was made from Red Oak, and stained with "gun-stock" stain. A water borne poly finish apply in a WOP form....to even out the stain some. I got tired of wiping it on so the last coats were sprayed.
A few photos of construction, and then my not so enthused helper.
The first iteration, had a panel drawer front. After consultation with my freind Pottz we decided that was too redundant and I went to a solid drawer front, which i my opinion "perked it up" gave it some grain on the front to match the top...
It is really just a simple little design, but sits at the main repentance to my home, so it was important to me that it looked nice.

I like gunstock stain Ive used it a few times. I would of liked to see what the panel drawer face would of looked like think it might of worked. Those hinges are nice to use no fuss putting them on. Nice job Mike
Looks great Moke! The usually distinct grain of oak goes well with the cabinet design.

Well duh! Dogs want a rag tied around the handle so they can get in and see what's for the taking!
Like idea of a porch cabinet, this one looks really good.

Thanks Corelz....I have used it a couple times....the last house remodel had red oak trim...about that color...it was very popular then.
Thanks Splint....there is going to be only like towels and then leashes in the drawer....but the leash is for me I guess...

Steven...thanks...that siding was popular when I did it too....its cedar car siding....now the big thing is to paint it. As soon as I do that...that will go out of style too!

Too true about style, Mike! we had 6" square ceramic tile on the kitchen (original to the house in '68). That came and went, and came again. Wife wanted quartz, that's what she got. Short of a fire, it'll be here when we're gone.

Steven--I agree...they are going to carry me out of this house someday too...too much crap to move...but when the SWMBO commands a different this or that....I agree...but I am not doing it myself....that is what God made the trade people for....
