I may have gotten carried away with the photos. You all remember I was a Professional Photographer for 45 years, right? Well here we go....the narrative is below the photographs. This is the outside of the shop- we have a full patio down by the house but I put this little one in....just in case there was a spare beer in the little refrige....
This is the view from the shop door. The house is 150 down this back driveway. the shop is positioned as far back on my property as the city would let me go. I have this cart in case of emergency trips to the bathroom.
The view from the overhead door/workbench area.....an overview. It is 1000 sq ft with forced air heat and AC. It has wifi, cable tv (which we don't use anymore, and cat 5 to the router in the house. There are two open spaces, for operations....one I am standing in and the other is harder to see, but in front of the WW bench...I push the drum sander forward and there is a 12x 12 area there.
The workbench area. I have tool bags everywhere around the house, upstairs and downstairs in the house, a lower mechanical shop in the garage, tractor shed, and the bag in the foreground is my landscape cart (golf cart) tool bag for repair of the property stuff. I have Ryobi, and Makita stuff here. I have a credit card that I had from my Studio that I used to pay my lab bills, which avaeraged 5k a month...I used the points for Home Depot and I have 92 Ryobi 20v and 40v tools....most I got for free. I don't really like their drill and drivers so I have a set of Makita and DeWalt for that. You will notice I have the much criticized pegboard everywhere.....and I believe in organization, otherwise with this much stuff, you would never find anything. I have 18 -10,000 lumen lights, and overhead storage for my pipe and Jet clamps.
A fraction of the the Ryobi stuff, but the most used. BTW you will see Vornado fans all over the shop....when they develop any small rattle or noise, my wife 86's them from the house and they come up here....there are 6 or 7 around the shop.
The Dewalt section...this is in the back of the shop by the lathes...also the vacuum pump. I have built a "vacuum puk board" (not pictured) with the help of Ryan, and I have a vacuum bag that Splint...who doesn't know it yet, I would like him to help me with....it is set up here for the vacuum chuck.
I don't have water up here....it was 30k to put in sanitary and clean water, so I have a water cooler.....
In keeping with organization, I have everything in totes and I use a label maker for each one. I have several HVLPs on the top right....Also the table is one of my creations...it uses Kreg legs, and it has a smaller table under it, that rolls out to build cabinets on...
To the right in this photo is my primary router table.....it is great. I have two table saws back to back with an out feed between. The Jet DC is for the tools here and is also is used for the Drum sander(just out of the photo.....I also found a "woodhaven" extension for this Delta saw for a second router...it has a duplicate Jessem lift and the other table. I rebuilt the Delta, and mostly use it for Dadoes. It has a Unifence on it.....that is an awesome fence no longer made...I was lucky enough to find a complete one for a reasonable price.
This is a little desk and 3 d printing section that I built. I am also still trying to sell crap on ebay from my studio....that is what is in the totes on the far right
Along the back wall is what I call the turning area.....I have three lathes and a seville low boy cabinet with only turning stuff in it. On the right I have two low speed grinders for sharpening only and an old Rikon with a Beall buff for my pens. The baskets in the middle are pens in production....I turn about 15 to 20 at a time....each pen has its own basket with bushings, instruction sheets, blanks, and a kit.
The heart of any shop, the TS....this one is a Saw stop pro...3 hp - 52" to the right of the blade, with fine adjust ( thanks to Petey for finding that-it is awesome), a homemade crosscut, out feed using the Jet DC. It is raised up with some 1 1/4" stock to level it to the same hieght as the Delta so it can also be used for outfeed.
The back of the Seville lowboy houses my blades and long rulers with magnets. It also has Gracie's bed...she spends all day with me....Sophie comes and goes.
Across the back wall is my lathes....this is a Grizzly 10x22 with VS and DRO. It sits on a craftsman lowboy with precision tools that is anchored to the back wall....It also shares a DC system with my other lathe. My Wood lathe is to the right and pictured below. I have my lathe chisels on this cart and on a magnet on the wall as shown below.....I also have most of my chucks on the wall.
The mighty 1836.....it is awesome.....I have done a few minor mods to make it better....but it is great. It has two lights and is connected to the DC using an overarm ( you have to look hard to see it, but it is right there in middle). The DC is dedicated to the lathes it is just a HF 2 hp but works well.....going around the corner you will see the beast 16" Jet planer...it is going to be connected to it soon....right now it uses the Jet by the TS but I have to use an extension DC duct to get it there.
I the back far corner is two reg speed grinders beside the DC...6 inch..One is a traditional buffalo and the other a tool shop...they were my Dads. I have been waiting for them to die, but they just won't so I bought a Vevor 8" it is on a Craftsman 9" disc/6x48 sander....It is my next project to put it on that stand with one of the others...Of course wood storage along the top.
Just another shot of all the crap on the Lathe wall
y 14" Jet bandsaw, material mover, currently outfitted with a Kreg assembly top and Makita slider miter saw.
I included this for Big Block...in the middle of this is my Keller Power hack saw....it was purchased from a friend that is on OWWT site that rebuilt it. It is beside a Buffalo horizontal band saw that never cut anything square in its life....it is available to anyone for free that wishes to come and get it....Of course one of 8 Ryobi fans and the beast 16" planer that weighs more than a small car....
The drilling area....the DP my only original tool, that I have never replaced that I have left....I of cousre have bastardized it....it did not have a crank so I outfitted it with an engine hoist cylinder...and the tool chest has only drilling tools in it. Beside that is a spindle sander and 12" disc sander.

The thing on the far left is one of two portable bandsaws I have..the other one is of course Ryobi...this one is on a "Swag" brand table....the the covered thing is my underused Delta Jointer.....the that weird looking thing is a Bora Centipede 4x8 for breaking down plywood with my track saw. Then no one can have enough clamps...this side is the F clamps and the other side is Irwin and craftsman quick grip style
This is three rollers of systainers with a few Festool sanders, domino, a couple boxes of router bits and Makita Track saw. then one set is my Fuji 4 stage Mitey mite, and accessories. The Dewalt boxes are all various brands of sanders.....the wood working table on the left is also set up electricity and plumbed with air (pancake compressor) It is also set up as you can see with an over arm to hold the vac hose for the festool vac and sander. I guess I never showed the 38-19 drum sander in the middle of the room.....it has folding in and out feed tables...I use it a lot.... The last shot (finally) was my Dads original machinists tool box. I have several of his here and there. Most are Kennedy but I can not figure the manufacture of this one (It is not a Gerstner-I contacted them and they did not know what it was either) . He was a machinist for Grumann aircraft during WW2 and Collins Areospace ( Collins Radio when he worked there) many years later. He had a number of jobs in his life but was a machinist/ tool and die maker most of it. This box holds a place of honor in my shop. I always point it out to anyone that come over. I gave it a little clean job and fixed the felt inside....I had great parents that sacrificed for me ever since I came on the scene. They did not have a lot, but I was always first on the list. It was important to my Dad that I got all his tools. I cherish them all, but none as much as this box.
Nice pool for the hot summer days when you wanna go for a swim. You're gonna make LBD bust out of his mankini with all of those lime green tools. You filled that thing up fast I remember when it was just finished. Seems like it was only a year sgo
holy 💩mike ! you said i had a lot of tools, hell ive got nothing compared to you buddy ! but ive got all of mine in tool cabinets where yours are mostly hanging on the walls. awesome shop mike, for all youve done you deserve it !

Corelz- that is where me n the mrs......watch the dogs swim Ron..thank you Splint...I have so much crap, if I didn't have organization, I'd never find anything Thanks as far as metal working I never learned how to weld...so my metal working skills and limited....I do like precise work...I need a mini mill, not sure where I would put it. Pottz....not sure who would win the most tool competition! Thanks!
