This simple Project was completed back in June, but was abandoned at the "Finish" line... I was upstairs shaving one morning and took a good look around the dingy old Bathroom... The room hasn't seen any treatment since the sixties! Changing direction completely, work was begun, and has continued, on that room... The work is progressing slowly! It's only cool enough to work in the bathroom a few hours in the mornings, the afternoons get too sweaty for this old man... And I'm not inclined to work every day (nor able)... Although it looks a complete mess (and is!) the room is actually nearing being paint-ready... Anyway, the abandoned Pen Caddy got finish applied earlier this week during a lull in the reno-work, and is now in use... I'm not sure of the materials other than the pen-holder section's sides, which are clearly White Oak... The parts were never measured and are only the results of the scraps used... It's unusual for me to walk away from something in the Shop, I generally like to 'clear the decks' to make way for whatever is next... But, in the event, it worked out well! It gave me something quick to accomplish while considering a couple of challenges from the renovation... Thanks for Your Time!

Love that pen caddy, fingerjoints will always have a place in my heart, and being as simple stupid as they are they bring enough bling to get noticed.
That bathroom is ongoing, soon enough the weather will get right, but only for a while, then it will be getting too cold. A good gauge of age, when you have to plan a job according to the weather. You are thinking Summer and I'll get this done, like you have done all your life, then it's Summer and ahhhhh, it's too hot for that.... I just went through the same cycle myself.
Hey a crows foot bath I haven't seen one for over 30 years! Of more interest is the tub cover ..can I request a couple of shots of it please , I don't mind if I see your feet and pants in the picture either!!!!! ... ha ha!
Nice work happening on several fronts. I too have projects which are seasonal—have one going on it’s 3rd calendar year because it’s “only after summer’s over”.
Thank You All for your thoughts and comments... Work continues on the 'New' Bathroom Island... Temporary shelves were cut and are in use, until appropriate material is obtained... Yesterday was a good day... The bottom kick-board was cut and mostly installed... Backer-boards were added where needed, to screw the drywall and such to... Here, the TP Holder backer-board can be seen and brackets are being added for a towel rack... The reasons why the toilet and the pipe are in the middle of the room, like Art Objects, are lost in the history of the House... It's likely that it happened during it's first addition, somewhere between 1910-1925??? It is known, from the continued archeology that I've performed, that this little corner is where one would have arrived, after ascending the very narrow original staircase to the second floor... The Stairs were mostly removed, along with half of a inactive chimney... The Chimney was taken out, but only to the level of the second floor (still present downstairs!)
