I found this in a piece of pine the other day. The nice thing about pine, when cut thin, the knots are somewhat see through. I just got a new camera, and just do not know how to use it yet.
First pic is natural light on my back door. Pic # 2 is with flash.
Finished with linseed oil. The Grandchildren love it.

The wood figure on the second picture make the owl head more pronounced.

Ianwater: It is just the first picture is backlit so the wood grain does not show up. In real life it is just fine.
