Fridge Magnet: Soli

I spent about 9 months working in a catholic retreat centre a year or two ago and last weekend they invited me to a festival they were holding for a visit. I knocked up a simple fridge magnet for them so people could start seeing my work and how interesting woodwork can be. I started out by cutting some scrap wood down to size, stripping the paint off and sanding it down.

After that I sketched on the design and got stuck in to carving away. I love carving I find it so therapeutic and amazing how something so simple can create such beauty. Anyway after I had finished carving I stained the wood added some acrylic paint and cut down some magnetic strips ready to pop on the back

Thanks guys, I am slowly getting to grips with my finishes but I feel like my work is always improving or at the very least I learn something new from every project attempted
