Bathroom Vanity

Final piece in my bathroom reno; built it to compliment the hickory medicine cabinet I made:

Went with solid hickory in all the bits that are visible…we’ll see how well it holds up under the punishing bathroom environment!
Top is finished with 4 coats of Minwax “Tung Oil” and 9 coats of wipe on poly; rest is 4 coats of Minwax and 4 coats of wipe on poly.

This is very cool!
With that many coats of finish it should hold fine.

Beautiful. I really like the stuff you’re making. This is no exception. Is this a bathroom that will see a lot of use or a powder room that gets used once in a while. I have a feeling if the former you’re going to be refinishing or replacing the top sooner or later.

The doors on this thing are just spectacular. Great job bringing our the natural beauty.

Thanks guys!
Brian, it is our main bathroom. I have the same suspicion that the top will not survive the long haul. I was originally going to go with a granite top but I liked the look of the wood better. I’m giving the top about a year before I have to replace it…

The horizontal grain on the doors looks great ,something a little different and no handles ,touch latch I suspect .
I like the choice of sink also and the countertop should not be too big of a problem as long as you stay ahead with a bit of recoating if from time to time

Klaus

thanks Klaus, I wanted to do something different from the typical raised panel doors. Hidden in the pics are routed recesses on the tops of the doors that act as handles.
