I have been intrigued by toggle coat racks similar to this one
I like the mechanics of them, but all the ones I have seen were of a more modern style than suits my taste. So I set out to do a similar toggle idea, with more of a log style.
I started with a mango log (limb) and made the toggles from 4/4 cherry. The finish is 100% Tung Oil, with no stain.
For something that looks pretty simple, it turned out to be pretty complex. Leave it to me completely over engineer something as simple as a coat rack. In the end though, I like the look. The mango has some amazing natural colors to it and I think the cherry makes a nice compliment to it. It is also the first bit of furniture that I have made, that is fun to play with.

Much nicer than the other styles I have seen.
