It’s been a while since I’ve had time to just sit back, relax, and do some crocheting.
Yesterday was my day and I was so excited — but when it came time to put hooks to yarn I just couldn’t get started!
On one hand I was looking forward to creating and, yet, on the other hand, I was uninspired and had no idea what to make.
I went through my Pinterest ideas, … nothing … I did a random search .. nothing …
I then mentioned my dilemma to MandaPanda and she suggested Easter eggs. The grandkids are away this weekend so I won’t be seeing them for the holidays so that idea went to the side.
I decided to just tackle a pineapple pattern for something … didn’t like it, pulled it apart… tried again… ripped it out again…. stuck with it… still didn’t like it and pulled it apart for a third time, and I put the yarn away.
Then, my early childhood education training kicked in and I remembered that “after” a holiday is a wonderful time to provide the theme items for children to explore. What do kids do? They explore what they know, what they’ve observed – from cooking in the kitchen, to fixing a car, to .. hiding Easter eggs.
And so out came the yarn again and I started making some eggs.
The first egg followed this pattern but I thought it was too big for my purpose (using my hook/yarn/tension) so I created my own pattern and started making some smaller ones.
Before the weekend is out I hope to have half a dozen or so eggs and perhaps a couple of small baskets for the grand-babes to use. It will be interesting to see what they do with them.
(I also whipped up a plate of noodles – a request by my grandson. I finally got time to make it. It isn’t anything special but it will do the trick and I’ll be adding it to my ever-growing cupboard of play food. I thought of making a plate, but they have small “real” plates already in their kitchen cupboard.)
