My granddaughter’s summer shoes are just so hot sometimes that they do not want to go onto her little feet … so I made her a pair of sandals. (These in the photo are not them … forgot to take a picture)
And then my grandson wanted a pair. … and so these were created. I haven’t been able to try them on him yet. Crossing my fingers that they will fit.
If they do, I will post a picture of them being worn.
Pattern
- trace around foot onto sturdy paper
- cut a larger piece out of leather
- punch holes around the leather sole, about 3/8" apart
- sc-chain 1 around the sole, (putting a repeat at the centre of the in-step)
- sc around, working into the chain 1 spaces
- for the heel: starting at the inside instep, sc 14 stitches around; turn and sc 12; turn; sc 10 stitches and then slip stitch to the toe
- toe, part I: top three stitches – sc 3 stitches, chain/turn; repeat for 7 rows; tie off
- toe, part II: skip two stitches at the instep and sc 3; chain 1, turn, and repeat for 4 rows; next three rows, work into the toe part I; then last 4 rows and slip stitch into the side.
