This chess board is a commissioned piece I made for a friend. I tried to use contrasting colors of hard maple along with black walnut 2” x 2” squares. The chess board is bordered with 1/4” maple and then 1/2” walnut. the legs are custom made out of hard maple as well.

Nice choice of wood. I like it. I have tons of Maple and have been considering building i Walnut. Thanks for sharing.

The kids and I enjoy a game or two of chess every evening.
