Hey i just wanna take a minute and thank our great host martin for providing us all a place to share out crafts. this forum is owned and supported totally by his generous time and effort. so i just wanna take a moment to thank him, and i hope you all will join me ! ive made a suggestion to him to create a place where those that want can make a donation to help him with the expense of running this forum. perhaps patreon as many bloggers use. i for one would have no problem donating each month. hell i pay over 200 a month for cable, internet and phone. so i think maybe 20 a month would be quite reasonable. but you could give whatever was comfortable for each. maybe those of you that know me noticed i used capitols, so you know im very serious about this ! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

well this is a sad turnout ! so no one wants to thank martin. i guess the idea to make a donation scared everyone ? im suggestingย  a donation for those that feel grateful for the great forum we all enjoy for "free" ! im not sayin he would charge anything which i doubt he ever will. a thank you costs nothing people ! ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ˜”

It's not that bad pottz, I saw this and think it's a great idea but didn't bother to comment. The T-shirts would be fun but that can be tough to make much money.

And yes I really appreciate this site that Martin has created. ๐Ÿ˜€
Another thought is that not everyone checks the forum threads that regularly. I noticed this because I follow your posts.
thanks steve. yeah i dont think martin wants to get in the t shirt business. im just a big cheerleader for this forum as i once was on that "other" place that kindly asked me too find a new home. and for that i will thank them ! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ž

If someone wanted to pull together a set of orders for a T-shirt without Martin's participation (but with his consent) that could be fun
so steve what are you saying ? ๐Ÿ˜ i think he might just go for that ?

Oh, I'm not the T-shirt guy. We had someone at work that loved to design and print T-shirts. We need that guy...
Martin Thanks,ย  and absolutely love this home you have created for us, but if you make it to high, we will not grow.ย  A lower, maybe even voluntary contribution, with encouragements to do so, would be more profitable in the long run for Martin as it would encourage growth.ย  For those of us that are on here a lot, 20.00 would not be bad, but if you think about it that more than any of the individual TV sites, almost double.ย  ( and if it is between watching women in bikinis frolic on a beach and you bastards....well... you are out)ย  I think to a newby who hasn't realized the value of the site that is too high.
T shirts, and clothing are a PITA.ย  I dabbled in that for a while in my store.ย  I never had the right sizes, the minimum orders were high to get a reasonable price and then when you ran out out of whatever, you would have to reorder a ton of them to pacify one customer.ย  Might I suggest something mildly wood working related?ย  Of course you need the obligatory coffee cups and tumblers.....but how about rulers or little squares.....maybe even generated by some of the engineers on the site with 3d or laser capabilities?ย  We are all creative in one way or another....we can put our heads together to come up with products or even the production.....
Just my .02

martin has not said he plans to charge anything. i suggested to him maybe setting up a vouluntaryย  way to make donations, maybe like patreon for those that wanted to help out and show their support. a donation would be totally up each as to how much if anything at all. i doubt he has the desire or more importantly the time to deal with any kind of merch.ย

Thanks guys. The best donation is a new content posted regularly.

That will attract new members down the road.

Thank you, Martin, for all you do for and on this site. It gives me a place to go to and forget some of what troubles me for a while. I greatly appreciate it.ย  Mike

I was scrolling through forum topics - trying to find an old one. I had a thought to share on this one though.

Martin pointed out that our best contribution to the site is to keep posting new content. One thing I have found is that if I go onto Facebook (the only one I am on) and post a link to my project I get a lot more views. I'm sure the same would happen with the other social sites (for those that have them).
