Anyone ever make a Snipe Bill Plane? They are used to perfect moulding profiles cut by various other moulding planes. I'd like build details or any "How To" info. I'm researching it for a planned build. They are usually made in pairs. A left and right.
Rick, I am not a maker of planes, however I have old ( 17th or 18th century ) snipe bills, and two books on making planes - just don't know if the snipes are in them, but I'll look and get back in touch.

Okay....thanks Oldtool. I have enough technical knowledge to make a start but would like to gather as much info as possible on some details. They are hard to find now. Do you use them? I assume there is boxing on them. Is there? Are you able to tell what kind of boxing.. like if it's boxwood? Are you able to look closely and see if the boxing was inserted on a bias? This means the end grain is inserted vertically but leaning on a slant as shown here. If so, it should look like this: heel \\\\\ mouth \\\\ toe
Thanks Lazyman. I have that one. It's a good read but lacks build and dimensional details. I found more info by a guy my named Doug Moulder that Caleb James had in one of his articles. Lots of dimensions but hard to separate dimensional lines from object lines.
