In comment form text boxes, it says “Write a comment.”, which is supposed to disappear as soon as you start typing but it doesn’t. The comment text overlays " Write a comment " and it’s difficult to see the comment text to check spelling, etc.
I’m using opera browser on android. I can’t say when this started exactly. Maybe 2 weeks ago or maybe less. It worked as expected before that.

Hi Brian, it sounds like a specific “opera browser on android” bug. Comment fields use – now – very common and standard placeholder attribute. It should be handled by each browser and just disappear there is some text in the field.

This might or might not help :)

Very strange. I’m using opera mobile, not opera mini. According to this page it should work: http://www.quirksmode.org/html5/inputs_mobile.html

Also, it worked before. I don’t know if opera mobile updated since this behavior was discovered.

One more thing. Opera mini is a java based app that relies 100% on operas servers to request, deliver and render pages. Opera mobile is WebKit based so it should handle html5 the same as chrome, safari and the others.

Yes, strange. Do you have another browser to test it on your device?

Posting now from chrome for android. No issues. It must have something to do work a recent update to opera.
