I just came into this article about 3D Printed Wooden Speaker – I think it looks amazing. I’m not a woodworker, but I think it should be pretty difficult to create something like this using standard techniques. What do you think?

Well, that’s special. I have to admit I’m more than a little impressed. Just imagine what the world will look like 20 years from now.

Sorry Michal,
Look like wood but not wood…

from the filament maker site: “Discover the beauty of wood in 3D printing. We have developed a material for 3D printing using FFF technology (FDM) that helps you print models that not only look like wood, but behave as wood as well”

FFF technology is a fusing method, wood does not melt…

Beautiful none the less. It’s amazing what 3D printing can do.
It opened the door to almost everyone to prototype or print real and unique object.

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I know that it’s not a real wood, I was just impressed how amazing it looks.

This 3d printing is going to boggle our old fashioned minds in a generation or 2. They will become commonplace in homes or maybe as kiosks where you can get any internet purchase printed on the spot. Want a new table saw, sneakers, kitchen or baby toy? Just purchase the plan and print it at home. I think this is going to be bigger than the way cell phones have revolutionized society. We, as artists, will become obsolete. Our skills will disappear like so many craftsmen 100 years ago and the cutting boards and table lamps we make that are taken for granted today will get built only for the nostalgic wealthy.
