Life is so ironic... this article has never been published before.
The irony is not in never publishing but rather I’m publishing it now when it is no longer applicable to me.
When I had a bloody noisy compressor, hidden out of the way in a corner,
that would deafen out the greatest thunderstorm, I set it up on a circuit so that when I turned it on using a pull down switch,
the light near the switch would light up,
reminding me that the compressor was still switched on and idle, just waiting to kick in during the middle of the night when the neighbours’ dogs and kids were asleep.
Not that that worried me, but being woken up by loud, belligerent pounding on my door did.
At least if I catch the light out of the corner of my eye, I would turn it off once it's no longer required, as we all forget we switched it on and it is sitting there temporarily silent, awaiting to burst into life at the most inconvenient time.
Furtunately/unfortunately, depending on which way you look at it… with my new compressor, switching the light on/off just about makes more noise than the compressor in full flight.
I suppose not having it on 27x4 standby (I have weird hours), will save me a few shekels in the long run.

looks to me to be completely illegal The only person who used those swuiitshes are light house keepers who are too Tight A to buy a combination switch or a PE switch no matter were in the light house you are yo can switch on an switch off the light Just need a bigger boat string!

That setup was when I was still monogamous and long before Alexa entered my domicile... the CFL dates it... but then I gave up on the combination switch and went for the 3 way one... a fair statement, but still no jealousy resulted.
Missed the 7 bars... got too pissed after the first 6.

My compressor is outside under a overhang. It's on a switch that only has power when the lights are on. I am sure the neighbors know when I'm using it.
