The upper half is another set of glue ups. The first one is with a layer of maple and walnut.
Once the layers are sanded to final thickness another layer of maple and walnut are added to each face. Another saw kerf is located as well.
I added these last 2 layers one at a time. I added the maple layer first. I could then true up the angled face on the table saw and sand it to final thickness.
Adding the final walnut layer was a little tricky. The stack was too thick for me to safely true up the angled face after gluing. My solution was to cut the angle on the walnut piece first and then very carefully locate this walnut piece such that the angle faces were aligned.
I think some luck was involved, but it worked out. A little light sanding to remove some glue residue was all that was needed. This last walnut layer did not need any thickness adjustment.
I cut the saw kerf in this piece first. I felt it was easier to locate the kerf on this side.
I made a thin strip of walnut to fit in the kerf. Once the first kerf was located, I used it locate the kerf in the lower assembly.
