As a veteran myself, it’s more than respect for my great grandfather Harry Fourro died from wounds, buried at Boulogue Eastern Cemetery; for my grandfather Bert Crowe who was badly wounded at Gallipoli; my grandfather Thomas Dalgleish who was awarded a Military Medal for Gallantry Under Fire at Ypres, Belgium and my dad Jim Crowe who served in Borneo, WW2!
It’s for all who served and continue to serve to protect the freedom of this Great Southern Land Australia 🇦🇺!
We Will Remember Them Lest We Forget 🇦🇺

Dawn Service was well supported by the local community

A great tribute and well deserved Crowie.  You have much to be proud of!

Crowie, to all the brave ANZACs and to those who served and in some cases, gave all they had, the entire world owes them a debt of gratitude that we will never be able to repay.
It’s nice to see other countries still honoring their Memorial-type days. That’s really fallen off here in the US. At least in some places. I remember huge 4th of July parades when I was a kid. Not so much anymore.

ANZAC DAY
Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia, New Zealand and Tonga that broadly commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders "who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations" and "the contribution and suffering of all those who have served".

The 25th of April was officially named Anzac Day in 1916. On the 25th of April 1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of the allied expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula. These became known as Anzacs and the pride they took in that name continues to this day.

Thank you to all the ladies and gents on Craftisian who have served there country

I waited to respond until May 4th. On this day we celebrate the commemoration of the dead every year, and on May 5th it is Liberation Day. Every five years there is extra attention for these days. Yesterday we were in Dokkum, a town that was liberated on April 14th 1945. There were 84 vehicles like those used by the Canadian liberators in those days. There was also a Canadian who was in Dokkum during the liberation, now 100 years old! In addition, there is a memorial in our cemetery in memory of the five pilots who died there. In short, we still remember our liberators!! And that will remain .
