Hope Chest for Niece
Over the years I've built 10 Hope Chest for family and dear friends, and this is my most recent one. Cherry construction with reclaimed Teak used for the Irish love knot inlay that was left proud to give it some visual depth.

Thats a real nice looking chest
The knot is a hand done inlay. I found the pattern online and printed it out, made three copies: One copy is glued into place on the front of the chest, a second copy is cut into individual segments which have each piece numbered and are glued to the inlay material which in this case was some Brazilian Cherry (Jotoba) flooring, and the third copy was saved as a master with numbers on each piece matching the numbers on the pieces from the cut up copy. using a trim router and 1/8" diameter bit the bulk of the material is removed from the face of the chest where the first copy is glued into place then cleaned up with chisels. Next the individual pieces are hand fit one at a time and glued into place.
Beautiful chest that will be cherished for years to come. The knot is a time-consuming process, but it looks great. Well done.
