debbie asked for xmas gift projects so here is mine.
Project Information
just finished up 9 toaster tongs for gifts this year.these were inspired by our good friend and fellow craftisian jim jakosh.i loved his design so rather than reinvent the wheel i pretty much copied his design.i did mine a little different by laminating cherry and maple,a classic combo.the size is 11" long 1-1/4" wide and a little over 5/8" thick.the black spot is a rare earth magnet.i think jim cut out the rack slot with a scroll saw i was lucky enough to have a multi router which made it real simple,as in pic's 4-5.these are finished simply with my go to maloof oil.these are a great project for using up scrap wood which is what i did. the last pic shows how i cut out the notch using my multi router.

Very classy pottz. Did you paint the magnets or were you able to source black ones? I wonder how a Domino would work for cutting out the rack slot? I'm guessing tear out on the back side unless you had a backer.
thats bud.yes black magnets.

They are neat pottzy... could also be used as chopsticks for a bowl of noodles... sorta using your noodle.

I don't need the connector, I know how to use chopsticks... you sharpen one end and just poke at the food.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

you got it duckie. ill stick with something called a fork myself !

I hit the like button!

Figuring out how to do something you have never done is what makes a good challenge.

I copied from Jim Jakosh also, with a few minor changes. Put a Furler on the outside and inside of tong arms to lighten them up a tad. So many different versions to them.
