Project Information
so you ask what the heck is a dessehamptainment center? well a couple months ago SWMBO comes to me with a request, she wants a dresser with upper cabinets with a tv mounted in between.so i add my design idea's and this is what i came up with.so it's a combination dresser, laundry hamper and entertainment center.construction is cherry hardwood and 3/4 & 1/4 cherry ply.the main frame work is put together with dominoes and bisquit joinery.all drawers are made from pre finished maple ply with 1/4 melamine bottoms.the small drawer fronts are solid cherry and large drawers and upper doors are rail and style construction with floating panels of 1/4 cherry ply.the uppers have adjustable shelves made from 3/4 melamine.all drawer slides are soft close as are the upper units hinges.the bottom unit is 34" tall and 72" wide, the upper unit is 42" high and each side is 16" wide.the bottom is 20" deep.the finish is 3 coats of my go to maloof blend oil.the handles are from rockler, the maple burl was turned on the late.

here are some build pic's
here are the heavily detailed engineered drawings used to build this. pretty impressive huh bently ?

Nice Pottz! Am I reading it right that you turned the burl for the handles and installed that into the Rockler pulls?

I like it! Tailored perfectly to fit your needs. The the name is as creative as the woodworking.
That is a wonderful build, like it, Cherry is very nice to work with. The handles are wonderful and a great contrast. Well Done.

Just amazing.  I really like seeing the "in progress" photos that you included.

This is why project-centric posting is so great. You get to see steps and understand the thoughts process a bit better…which is what I love most about the site!

Yeah, I get the pen blank thing….what a great way to upscale a standard bar-style pull. 👍🏼

Looks great in cherry.  Nice touch with the pulls too.
That's great, pottz! That was a lot of requirements to meet in one piece of furniture. Love those turned handles too.
thanks guys.the important thing is swmbo got what she wanted and loves it. the issue now is she wants to flip the room. move the bed to that wall and cabinet to the bed wall !!!! remember i said it weighs a ton ahhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!

Anyone who builds fine furniture from a page of chicken scratches just might be considered a craftsman.   Beautiful results, pottz.
Nice piece pottz. Your drawing is more than what I get at work.

Table tops are basically just veneer. But cabinets or nightstands I basically get the exterior dimensions.  I get to build however I want.
