Project Information
this is a coffee table i made for my brother about 12 years ago. its a 3"thick slab of oregon myrtle wood, the base is made from 8/4 black walnut.there are 2 drawers with an open shelf above, all solid hardwood.the top has butterfly inlays and i left the bark on although most people remove it for fear of it coming off but ive done quite a few with no problem. also the finish is 3 coats penofin interior grade oil. i never took any pic's when i did it so he took these after i delivered it to him. little did i know but the slab had some powder post beetle infestation. he called one day and said, hey my table is alive ! luckily they died shortly after.

Pottz

I really like this table.  Nice job on the butterflies.  Lots of cool details.

Pottz, you sure do have access to some beautiful wood to work with. Do you have a favorite hardwood supplier that you frequent or do you have to shop around to find the perfect pieces for your projects?
thanks petey.

joel-well i did when my dad was alive living in so. oregon. i could get big slabs at no cost back then. i have a local supplier is use now,but slabs like the ones i posted would probably run over 800-1000 bucks here. im just a mere mortal now-lol.

Another nice one Pottzy!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Liking the live edge tables, well done.

thanks ryan !

thanks eric !

there has always been a lot of debate about taking the bark off slabs.some say do it because it's gonna come off in time. well the first table was done about 18 years ago and not one piece has come loose.
