I can't stand to let fancy cutoffs go to the burn bag, good to see someone else shares my belief!
Did you embed the magnets into the wood through the top (cover with fill or thin wood strips) or tunnel up from the bottom, just shy of the surface?

Not that fancy, the magnets are visible with the cover off. Magnet only on one side that is covered up in the photo.

I’m a big fan of that 3D pattern. Really brings a cool look to projects.

Nice way to use up left over cutting board parts. Once all that work has gone into it the last thing you want to do is throw it away.
