BUD VASE AND TWO FILE HANDLES FROM MY LEMON TREE

Greetings,
I severely Prune my Lemon Tree each year...I find that it helps to produce a good crop of Lemons.   Also if some of the cuttings are big enough, into the wood pile it goes.
The pieces in the picture are quite small.  The Budvase is about 6 inches tall and the File Handles are just big enough for small files.
Very handy to have file handles on hand.  They are fun to make and look nice with the brass ferrules.
It was a simple but enjoyable project spinning and shaping them on the Lathe.
They are finished with 3 coats of Poly and sanded between coats then buffed with wax.   I was able to do all the sanding and buffing on the lathe while it was spinning away.

Lemon wood is a lovely wood.  nice and smooth and although the white wood could be called boring, it does have a certain appeal with its blemishes.

Kind regards......Cliff.

The vase is wonderful, and the blemishes you mentions do make it look very nice. The handles are a great addition to any shop. Well done.

That's what I say about my pimples!

PS.  I use those type of handles to turn my bowls... pottzy will understand!

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Good looking, never thought of lemon wood. I think I have only seen one lemon tree in my life and it wasn't big enough to use for anything.   Mike

Thank you Eric.  I really enjoyed making this project.  I very nearly chucked out the cuttings but those ones were big enough for a project.
I think there are a couple of pieces left over.
You have got me thinking.

Hi Mike,
Thank you.  I was surprised at the quality of the Lemon Wood.    But I do remember many years ago seeing a Wooden Mallet made from Lemon Wood.  The wood may have come from the Base  at lowest part on the trunk as the Mallet was not real small.  It looked great.

Great lemon tree products.

Thanks Jim,
I could call it a Lemonade Vase.

Nice work Cliff. The vase is really cool. I just made a small jewelry box from a lemon tree I got from another LJ. It was nice to work with few imperfections.
DoubleDD.
Thanks Dave.
I will look forward to seeing  the Jewlery Box you made from Lemon Wood.
