Greetings, I usually have heaps of Wood stacked up. Both natural Wood from Branches, Fallen Trees etc. Also old hard wood which I have had for Donkeys years. This is certainly where the Band Saw earns its keep. Boards of all sizes and thicknesses can be achieved. This little Box would be around 7 inches long. 5 inches Wide and 4 inches Deep
The Top and Bottom is Jacaranda and the dark wood is very Old Australian Hard Wood.
It has several coats of Danish Oil, sanded between coats and waxed and Buffed with a soft cloth by hand. Next Box I will attempt to hide the Hinges.

Picture of the hinges I use... without the border, you'd never know it was a picture and just thing its a blank page.
If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
Little Black Duck Excellent....I will keep trying. Thanks for the tip!!! Next time I seat hinges I'll have a couple of questions to ask you. Regards......Cliff
Sorry Cliff, I must have slipped, dropped over and missed this question.
As a duck, I don't wear clothes ('cept for the mankini on Sundays), so solid timber, like big boys long pant, is out of my league.
Most of my boxes have been small, making hinging difficult and lately I've been concentrating on laser cut 3mm and 6mm MDF... which isn't too conducive to taking threads (screws for hinges)... so without further ado, to answer the question, I'm unhinged and avoid using them.
Though a while back I've been toying with the idea of threads in thin MDF, so I may start hinging.
