Grouse Display

Haha, I did have to make something once with no moving parts, I know, it doesn’t happen often.  I guess looking back that made me happy.

My friend was wanting to display a carnivore tribute to living and eating wild and therefore in his rugged and manly way he wanted to display this male prowess, lol.

So I made him this.  I don’t know if that is how it’s typically done, was all new to me.

It was a great use for some interesting curly redwood, just enough for this project.  A little Pau Amarillo down the centre of the bracket livened it up a bit.

Pretty sure buddy’s new girlfriend had him take it down and lovingly helped him put it in the garage, lol.

Cest la vie.

Thanks for looking guys!

Neat way to display a trophy mount, seems like I have seen this done with turkey's.

Nicely done!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Remember hunting grouse as a kid. Get close enough with the shotgun so I don't miss and that sometimes would be all that was left.

Made me smile Kel!

Splinter you using a 12 Ga? My dad hunted quail and pheasant years ago used a 20 Ga.

Yep, had grandads old single shot 12 ga with full choke, Probably had #6 or #7 shot.

I just remember walking miles through the woods trying to locate the buggers.
Haha, ya, my Dad used to call me Hawkeye cause I couldn’t see them even when 20’ away, lol.  Good times!

Is this what happens when one uses a gun that is far too big?

I have seen many turkey feather displays, but on grouse ones.  Don't know why.  Those feathers a just a pretty.  That a great way to display them also.  Very unique.
