"Young Indian Boy Dancing"

I thrive on detailed scroll saw pieces.  My doctor, finding out what my hobbies are, said "show me what you do".  I took in a piece that I kept  instead of selling and he ordered this piece.  His face when he saw it was worth all the hours and he said to me it was exactly what he saw in his mind.  I was thrilled.  On my last visit, he said he had a problem with the piece.  He said, "It's not big enough".  Whew; had me worried.

Awesome scrolling.  How hard is it to scroll a piece of burl like that?  beautiful wood great selection for that picture.  The only burl I have scrolled was redwood burl, but it is soft wood so easy cutting.

wow, that looks amazing, a tribute to the hours spent for sure!

Amazing!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Outstanding!  The patience and steady-handedness to accomplish something this detailed is mind boggling to me.  Did you create the pattern yourself?
Very nice! I haven't the patience or coordination.

Very nice work.  Looks hard to scroll something so thick.
You conquered it with flying colors.
Thanks for posting.

Figuring out how to do something you have never done is what makes a good challenge.

Artful and wonderful piece.   Nice work.   Really like the image of the indian boy in full dress.

Brilliant piece MJ...   I'd be toying with such detail even using my laser.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Beautiful work and a fine piece of art. Well done.

Very nice work.  Such intricate detail is mind boggling.

The selection of the wood, the layout and the skill to scroll that is impressive. Beautiful piece.

The maple burls are easy to cut - to a point.  Being hardwood, it is fairly forgiving.  I have and thought about using spiral blades but not happy with the end result.  Not smooth enough.  This pattern was done for me by Candy Zine (look her up on Facebook) from a photo she, herself took at an Indian pow wow.  The thick burls are tricky in as much as the entry holes must be perpendicular or the back side of the piece won't look like the front and that is my goal.  I used 0/2 Olson's on this piece.  Just like towing an RV:  "go slow and swing wide", my moto with scroll sawing something this intricate is:  go slow and let the blade do the work, especially the small ones that I use.  Thank for the wonderful compliments.

Jane,

Your work is beautiful.  Your doc should treasure this piece.  Great burl that harmonizes well with the art.

Jane.
That's some incredible scroll saw work!  At first glance I thought it was pyrography or ink on wood.

I am glad I clicked on this one! Like L/W I thought this was a laser project. This is excellent work & thank you for sharing it with us.
