Small personalised toy boxes

Hey :)

Here’s a pair of small toy boxes I made for my nephews.

Made from solid pine and painted in bright colours with a vinyl personalisation tag.

These boxes have a push to open function where a push to open/close latch and a gas strut work together, just push down on the lid until it releases then the lid rises to its most open position. This lid can’t close by itself eliminating trapped fingers.

Very nice toy boxes. I like the hardware you used on these. You do good work.

The strut is such a great idea. Is that from a car hatchback or something? Someone posted a project for a trap door using them and I happened to see them one day at autozone and they’re not very expensive. Could be used for lots of things.

Losing fingers since 1969

Love the bright colors. nice work I’m sure they’ll last for years

Thanks all.

The gas struts are originally used for kitchen cupboard flaps that open upwards.

They are very cheap, these ones were £3-4 each.

I always think of toy boxes as large, but why not make smaller ones, nice work.
