Turned Salt cellars with spoon

I made a number of these a while back but thought I would show them here as I'm thinking about making more.
The first one is maple with a purple heart top and spoon. The second one is apple wood and the third shows the assembly. The lids have a 1/4" brass rod for a pivots that fits in a hole in the base lined with a 1/4" brass tube. There is a rare earth magnet embedded in the rim opposite the pivot that holds the lid closed.  The texturing on the top band was made with a Dremel and a narrow round burr. The spoon is also held in place by a small magnet.  The cup on the spoon was hollowed out with a Dremel tool using a round burr. They are finished with General's salad bowl finish.  Cooks love them.

Not a "bowler", but that spoon makes it worthwhile.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Les, those are great, really like the fashioned spoon that goes with it. Well done.

Les-That is awesome!  I love the spoon!  Last time I made a Purpleheart bowl, it turned my shop purple!!!!  Good Job!

This is cool!  Like others say, I like the spoon and how it sits on top of the lid! very nice.

A fine looking setup!

Love the thought you put into integrating that salt storage and dispensing system!
Very nice Les, I missed this, but you mentioned it in Eric's cellar post. I love this design and I think I have to make one.

Be my guest.
The trickiest part is aligning the pivot pin so the top and bottom match up
I like yours better Les, I did not come back to this before making the one i did. I really like the pivot you did there.
