Stairs to the Deck

This a set of stairs built to replace the bridge that went to the pool ( which was removed). The last picture is of Tim and me hoisting up the section of the bridge that was re-cut shorter and  turned 90 degrees to fit up and became the top landing of the stairs.  There is a wood landing at the bottom.
The wood is treated pine with plastic decking used for the top of the railing to prevent splintering that you get from pine when it ages. This was a fun project and challenging to make it so the stairs did not land past the corner of the house. It will be stained to match the deck this year.

Came out great Jim. I built stairs when I Was a welder and one for my loft in Brooklyn NY and I know it can be a challenge for most builders.

What’s your tread and riser measurements?

When I say the photo of you heisting up the platform it thought one of you were holding up the platform and Tim.

James McIntyre

They turned out great. Yes, stairs can be a pain at times.

Main Street to the Mountains

Nice,   I also admire the boardwalk walkway,  is it cedar?

Albert

Thanks James, Eric and Albert.

Hi James, The tread depth in 9 1/2" and the rise is 8". I had to scrunch it back a bit to get it to come out in the right place on the bottom. I usually make the rise 7".

Hi Albert, The walk way is Wolmanized wood- probably treated pine and it has lasted a Long long time. I have a wood room under the deck and the floor is Wolmanized plywood and it too has lasted a long time. We can't get that green treated wood in Arizona..it is all brown there.
