I forgot to share the finished project!
Pretty happy with how this one turned out.
It ended up having a 5' wingspan and I cleaned up and old maple butt end and used that for a base

Amazing as always Angellos. You are one talented guy!

The early bird gets the worm but its the second mouse that gets the cheese.

Awesome, gorgeous, and impressive work! The detail on the feathers is amazing. Nice photography too.
Great work. When I saw the photo I though what’s up with this project? Are we now doing photography? I thought it was real!

Then I looked closer. Your work is so realistic.
Didn’t I see your work on another site similar to this one?

Thanks everyone. I took the first two photos with my cell phone and the rest were shot by my photographer friend, Sean Fenzyl

@James, you may have seen this elsewhere for sure. I posted it on several art sites and it has been fairly widely shared by various group members

Beautiful!!  Love seeing blue heron when out kayaking.  You have captured the likeness.  WOW!!
Beautiful work, very realistic. That will develop a nice patina over time.

Thank you. It shouldn't rust anytime soon as I made it hollow, on an armature, and dipped it in a few gallons of Por15 clear. I then sprayed it with several coats of Five Star Extreme automotive finish to get the sheen level I wanted (It's a two part finish that has variable sheen levels depending on your hardener mix

I entered this piece in the Metal My Way contest (North American wide, put on by Metal Supermarkets).  I received an email yesterday informing that I won the "best over all" category and I am also the grand prize winner. Nice feather for the resume cap!
