Music Box

Made this for a friend that collects music boxes, it is a replica of one that he had but the case was in bad shape and I made a new one.  I measured all the parts so he could fit the mechanism in which he had restored.  Used original joinery such as blind dovetails - ya no kidding, lot of work for something not seen.   I made a prototype to check all the joinery first.  Finish is shellac french polish.

Beautiful!  Not a fan of blind dovetail…they kick my butt.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Beautiful boxes, that french polish looks amazing.

That's another beautiful project!
Beautiful !!!

Someday........I'll try full blind.

For now, I'll keep trying for perfection on plain old dovetails !

Inlay is Holly, used a dremel on slow speed with router base attachment and 1/32 bit.  Marked lines with a an adjustable square.

Tim,

I have been following your in-lay work.  You buy the veritas attachment base for dremel?  Cary Mitchel has that in his shop.

Petey

Just a cheap dremel router base but works well.
