Safety Equipment Storage Box

I have been thinking about this for a while and finally took the time to build a storage box for my safety glasses that is right in the shop area. I used to drop them in the drawer with other equipment and had to wipe them off all the time. While I was at it, I added storage for my hearing protector and  for one of my free Harbor Freight flashlights that I always had to walk in the other room to fetch.
The box is totally glued together with Titebond III..
It is all made from scraps from the wood bin and I had the words lasered in  by a friend.
It is finished with clear gloss lacquer.

I fastened the box to the hood of my miter saw….........Cheers , Jim

Great way to keep the PPE in one spot on the ready. Well done.

I’m a huge fan of all purpose built shop furniture, and this qualifies in my book. Something about making things that help you make other things is just super cool to me. Great job!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Useful in the shop...

Another useful shop project!
My ear protection is hung on my tool wall.  The concept is similar.

Nice idea, keeps them visible & readily handy when needed.
Very practical item for the shop.  Especially if one does not forget to use it.  I am always trying to remember where I last hung my ear protection.  I think I would make one of the safety glasses compartments a dust mask compartment.
Have my safety glasses hung by the light switch by the entry door.    Still have to nudge myself to remember    Nicely done.

Thank you all for the  nice comments.  The flip up doors keep the inside dust free. The lower compartment holds my magnifying glasses so I can see the " little" things!
I have a motto in the shop : " A place for everything...and Everything in its place".
It sure makes working in there fun because only I am in there and I put everything back!

That sounds like me Jim, always putting the tools back after wiping them down. Of course some things do get moved around for a better workflow.

Hi Eric. I have to change things around from time to time too. Like in my barn, I was always used to having a tool box for working on cars but now I have the wrenches hanging out for easy reach and the sockets and ratchets are on a stand right on the workbench. I still have to tool boxes out too, but the tools I use the most are very handy now!!!

Great Idea Jim....I should do something similar .....I was running about looking for my safety glasses.  they were sitting on top of head all the time!!!!

Regards......Cliff.
Thanks , Cliff. If I always put them back, I can depend on them being there when I need them.

Nice job Jim. I could use something like that to hold my dust mask. I never put it back in the protective bag and it ends up laying in sawdust.

Thanks, John. I keep my dust mask in a drawer but a box for it like this might be handier!! I hate it when you put on the dust mask and there is dust inside it!!!

Nice build.   I have a drawer full of just glasses so when one gets dirty/foggy/sweaty I can quickly swap to a clean pair.
Thanks Swirt!!

Great idea, looks like the best place to look first before trying to figure out just where you set them down.

Need something like that of pencils and steel rules, they have more of a tendency of walking off somewhere.

Thanks Ctl and Eric!!

Hi Eric, the 16ft tapes stays right on top of this box and I have a lot of other organizational tools that I stopped and made when I get tired of constantly sorting through stuff to find something. they are dusty but I use them every day. Here are some close ones:
