Salvaged Beech Bowl

This is a bowl I started a year ago and stopped when the center was way too spalted to hold together. I found more of the log and cut out the center of the bowl and added a more solid section and finished it last week. It is kind of striped but I think I'll keep it for fruit or something. it is a salvaged bow rather than a salad bowl!
Finish is Deft semi gloss and Butchers wax.

Nicely done Jim, and a good save, the grain is really interesting.

Great save!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Spalted pattern looks great

It’s a pretty shape, Jim! Personally, I always try to hold spalted pieces together, and haven’t ever tried a patch. But I have a pretty good backlog of stuff that needs to be stabilized so I can work it, and also quite a few failed pieces that came apart because they weren’t as solid as I first thought.

May you have the day you deserve!

Great repair, completely  invisible.
Fine work on blending the two woods!
Nice save Jim! I didn't even notice the center board until I read the description.
