Tablet Stand.

This is my first project that  I posted here. I was inspired by another members stand here but can’t recall his name.

This is a crude, simple, rustic and unattractive build with dematiaceous  wood but it functions well.

When I see the quality of the projects on this site I think I’ll work on my skills before I post again. I saw the project by Oldrivers, I think he called it an a-loof style bar stool I feel like I have to up my game.

It is put to gather with screws. No glue, incase I want to sell them on-line. They would be easer to ship disassembled.

This one is a prototype made from scraps and an old pallet I’ve been saving. The ones for sale will be built better and of finer woods. I hope

Thanks for looking. Comments are welcome.

GR8 JOB 😍😎👍

Nice idea.   The blocks on the bottom may not fit for all lap tops.   Some are thicker than others.

Looks like a good concept. You might want to think about grain direction for your side pieces. The back corner is likely to get smacked a bit.
If the grain of the sides ran parallel to the bottom the back corners would be stronger.
Thanks for the comments and constructive input guys.
Neat concept, and looks like it would work well, (I was thinking a notepad that one writes on at first). You could play around with the design where the supports fold back against the slope, so it stays as one piece for shipping. Or an adjustable back for the slope which also folds up flat.

Thanks Eric. I will give your ideas a try.
sometimes simply is all it needs to be. yeah i like erics idea. probably only need one support arm, and that could be easy to fold flat. good for storing which might appeal to more potential customers. thanks for sharing your work. keep it coming.

Looks fine, although it would be cool to figure out a way to change the viewing angle. Maybe hinged on the bottom with a ratcheting catch behind it to fix the angle? Nice job.

Thanks RyanG It would be nice to be able to change the viewing angle. Back to the drawing board!
Maybe keep the design similar to what you have, albeit a lower angle. Make the current front table ‘slab’ just a frame, and hinge a slab at the bottom of the frame to allow it to pivot. It’ll add some thickness, but you could probably hinge the triangular supports off the sides of the frame so they nest inside it (the frame), which would cut down on the thickness and make it one piece…if you can workout a kickstand for the adjustable slab.

Thanks again RyanG.  What’s your thoughts on these stands I found on line.
The top one uses a small brass hinge at the top of the pivot. I have a few of those hanging around somewhere.
Both seem reasonable, it’s all about what you want to build.

Those look like the ticket. Design your own using some of the features that are shown.

being a woodworker the top design is how id do it.

Nice! For the design, I would agree with Pottz. Oh but one thing, if you list it to sell, maybe you should call it as a "tablet stand" instead of a "note pad stand"..

No name noobie here

Even with a fixed angle, those are handy for when you just want to stand up something to reference while working at the computer. Great first go at it, all that is left undone is exploring added features, but don't add more that you need/want or else it just gets weird 😀

Welcome!
plus too much will result in a higher labor time and price. which means less sales.

I made this one years ago for my wife  -- just to offer a suggestion. The heart was formed by bookmatching two pieces.  Glad your here.

WoodGuy, yes there are many uses for something like this, as Yrti said, tablets. You could also use them in the kitchen for a cookbook, if anyone uses them anymore.

Thanks Ron I will do some research to see if I need to enlarge the base to fit thicker tablets.
