Curio Cabinet

this was originally posted on lumber jocks back in feb of 2016. i never migrated it here because i wanted to take new pic's.  this is a curio storage cabinet that is a hybrid of sorts, the upper glass shelves are component parts that I bought at lowes and modified to attach to the lower cabinet I built. the wood for the main box is bubinga with a leopard wood inlay on the drawer fronts. the top is padauk. the finish is a poly oil blend. drawer boxes are Baltic birch on ball bearing full extension glides. the top f;oats a couple inches above the base cabinet. the top is just made from dark masonite because i didn't want to waste a nice wood that will never be seen. this is some of the most beautiful bubinga ive ever seen. luckily i had just enough of it from one board to the do the drawer fronts.

Did you design it for that spot? fits in nicely.

Who in the house gets the nick-nack dusting duties 🤔 ( I just use the compressor when it's my turn)

We had a house cat for a while so fortunately most of the dust collectors are still boxed up where She can't find them.
I like it Bud, it has kinda a Deco feel to it.  Really nice lumber and good design.

I like it all around.  Those wood choices work great together.

Neat wood combination.  I've never worked with either bubinga or leopard wood.  The drawer pulls are the right look with the wood types and the glass supports.  Looks great!
thanks barb. leopard wood is pretty cool looking. bubinga can be a challenge,
