I made this jewelry box for one of my nieces. I was very pleased with how it turned out, particularly with the organizers that can be rearranged or removed entirely. Please know that I do not have (and rarely ever use) plans in anything I make. I typically work freestyle and improvise my designs after seeing other similar items either on-line or by browsing boutique craft shops when I'm traveling. For this project, I saw a similar item on Etsy, but it had curved faces on all four sides. That design looked too bulky for a jewelry box (particularly in the center where the wood was over 1" thick!) so I made this one more conventional with straight sides. However, I did make this with thinner side walls, that is a bit more challenging for me, given my cramped workspace, where I need to improvise on basic techniques for jointing stock (since I don't have room for a jointer). But doing this made the box lighter, and it gave it more volume on the insides. Another challenge was cutting the drawer faces and sides to match spline dovetails on the box side faces. Also, there is more of a challenge in making a lid separate from the box body (and embedded into it) after glue-up while having it fit and open properly.
