After Wedding Party Table Decoration

Daughter in Law ask if I would make a table decoration for a party associated with the Granddaughters upcoming wedding.   How could Granddad say no.    They supplied the script and the idea of the word love.   I added the base with the date of the wedding.   The love word was cut out of 3/4" thick mahogany on the scroll saw and band saw, lots of sanding followed with sanding strips on the scroll saw and pieces of sandpaper glued to small dowels.
The date was laser engraved.   Note the slanted face, making it necessary to make it the level part for the laser.   Also the laser had to be raised to clear the base.    The inlay is Timbermate wood filler with Eye Candy Green pigment stirred in.    After drying sanded smooth.
3 coats of wipe on poly.    Wipe on poly was chose due to the shape of the word.    Worked out fine.
The love word in 7 1/2" inches long 3/4" thick.    Base is 1 inch thick.

Very nice. A classy table topper. 👍🏼

I’m assuming you mixed the pigment with Natural/White TM?  Is it a mica powder?

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

White TM and the Eye Candy Pigment is a mica powder.   Had to add a very small amount of water to keep  the mix pliable and mixing.    Worked fine.   First time to use this product.   Will use it again if and when needed.   A box of samples from Eye Candy Pigments will last me a long long time.

Thanks for the comments.

Nice job Grandpa. A lot of tedious hand work to sand and finish it looks like.
Ron, I use mica pigments a lot when I do epoxy inlay work. Works great. I know folks have used it with TM as well, but I haven’t. Good to know how you managed it. Looks great!

The mix of TM and the pigments was a very small amount.   Teaspoon or less of TM and then added the pigment till the color was what was wanted.....Using a white TM as base probably then requires more pigment than some other more neutral base....   I really have little experience in coloring of the base so take this with caution.
