Son and Grandson both into old Jazz and Blues, Grandson Plays the guitar in Jams on the weekend.   Has a large collection of guitars and LPs.     The boxes are made of 1/2" thick Basswood (Basswood to save weight and what I had).   Sides at the back is 7" high front is 6" high.  With and depth are both 13 1/4".    Bottom is 1/4" Basswood Ply inset into sides, front and back 1/4".    Finish is 3 coats of GF Honey Oak, was a bit to orange for my taste.   This was then sealed with 2 coats of poly to give a gloss ad to tone down the orange.
Laser used to add the music score on the front and the guitar and guitar brands on the sides.   Staggered box joints on the corners cut on the router table with the Incra Jig.

Ron,

You are a machine lately.

My bro left a bunch of cool LPS.

I want to keep a few, but nothing to play them on.

Those are cool.

Petey

those came out real nice ron.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

There is a company called Blue note that has mastered a lot of the old jazz and blues.    There are also LPs that are just CDs copied to vinyl.   These are usually Chinese, not quality sound.    The son and Grandson have each some quality equipment to play LPs.     My old tin ears can not tell.

Cool! The color looks more like cherry than oak to me and I like it.

No name noobie here

What great gifts!!
Thanks for the comments.

Good to see a laser put to use.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Awesome gifts!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Cool drawings, nice corner joints

Way cool. Great looking storage containers. Had you thought about lids?, maybe with handles on top?
No lids was wanted, want to find easily what you want to play and put it back.   Not long time storage.

Nice! The laser details really add a lot. So much better than plastic milk crates!
Those are so cool! I bet you could sell those as fast as you could make them.

Those look great Ron, well done on the build and the laser work. Agreed better than the old milk creates.

987, just noticed your finger joints were not equal sized. Did you use a special jig or am I just missing the obvious.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

LBD  I call them staggered box joints.   Use an old Incra Jig on the router table,   Can do all types of spacing, about whatever one can dream up.    The Incra jig manual has this one in it.   Only thing with the Jig is making sure the router bits really cut the true width, I always check them...the Freud bits seem to be always good.   If the bit is a bit undersized or won the joints will be to tight and not fit, oversized bits tend towards sloppy joints.   Had this Jig for about 18 years.    Never let me down.

Nice job Ron.

Reminds me of the old crates they used to sell at "Peaches" record stores. Just much higher end work. The laser work allows you to personalize them so anyone could feel that special touch.

More and more I see that lasers, and CNC's really are as much woodworking and craft as not. Used with traditional woodworking methods they allow for a super high degree of art, and personalization. In this case the laser has made a huge impact.
