started this project last weekend. made one for the shop bathroom and one for the house bathroom. both have sides made from mohogany. one has a maple base with ambrosia maple top trimmed in walnut. the other has a walnut base with leopard wood top trimmed in walnut. both have maple splines. finish is one coat general finishes arm r seal to bring out the grain and 3 coats gloss lacquer. both have a rubber pad on the bottom. the mahogany was planed down to 1/4".
here's a couple build pic's, i know many like to see em.

Great wood selection! I can't believe you knocked these out in just a few days, especially since you are also working that garden and tending to the meats!

Surprised to learn that these are for the house, seems you've made quite a few, finally time to outfit the castle 👍
Looks great!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

splint-ive given away some. i just hate the cardboard box, these are a little nicer.
ryan-thanks.

The "art" on the cardboard boxes led me to make my first! Had to keep the sun from damaging the fine work 🤠

Maybe you have your next idea for the gift season at work?
yeah maybe ? im going to make wine cork trivets for sure, got about a thousand corks i need to get rid of.

Not to mention making as many posts here as you do, and still working, well kinda working anyhow. I mean like WTF, where do you find the time?? Are you a Vampire and don't really sleep, just have to get out of the Sun?

Awesome boxes Larry.

 Cool looking boxes there pottzy...

On a serious note, I hate the large boxes as when the interweave cocks up as you're (I'm) reaching the bottom, it's a pita to fish out the loose end from the box itself... for large boxes promote that to a PITA... how does that solid fixed lidded hole fare up.
That is why I leave my top open and stick to the smaller packs,

Not pretty or as economical, but saves frustration.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

true sometimes ya gotta dig those last sheets out but the box lifts right off the base so no big deal.

For me it's the first tissue out, usually comes with 3 or 4 .
The last one can be more than just frustrating. When a sneeze is coming on, reaching for the straggler usually ends up with a handful of sneeze juice and with the cats out of the house, no self cleaning "rags" handy.

It's just wrong I tell ya!

That has to be one of the best boxes I've seen Tony, you lucky snot! 🤠
only the best for my tony ! 😁 that was the swap i didn't want to do. peer pressure !

Look great!  But am I looking at both the top and bottom glued in place? Doesn't look like the case in the final picture, but does in the progress pictures (and that won't work to replace the box!).
