Plane shaving ribbons? So cool! They'd last a few minutes in our house, though.

Yes they are plane shaving ribbons. They've been spray lacquered and no problem in my sister's house with them getting damaged.
Great detail work! Lacquering up the curls is a great way to make them at least a little more stable.

The shavings are a great addition, they do look fragile but you seem to have taken that into account. Besides, if they get damaged they are easy to recreate or just look down at the floor for replacements 😬

Beautiful box. The ribbons would not work every where (I'm thinking about grandkids) but will be excellent in the right home. Nice job!
