Switch Box

I was winding up all the wires around my laser and wiring them tight to contain them to try to "neaten" the place up a bit and thought about all the switching I have to do each time I burn a project. I have to turn the rheostat on the air pump and switch  the vacuum on and off every time. So,  I thought I might as well make a box with one switch to do all that right  by my the laser...and this is the switch box. It is made from 1/4" maple plywood mitered and glued together. I glued 4 posts in the corners on the inside onto which I screw the bottom . The box is secured with 4 screw onto the laser base plate of 1" plywood.

Nice and tidy and always Jim.👍

Many lasers have output pins that can control air and fans through the file you are running. It can take some digging to find the info and of course making it all work, but in the long run it can make things easier.

I still have mine set up like you do, turn on the air assist, get the exhaust fan running and of course shut it all down when done. Have the plan worked out, just need the "kick" of a few ruined items due to forgetting to make me actually build it! 🤔

Countdown....

Love that clamp.

I made something kinda similar for my media blasting cabinet. Controls the exhaust vac (just a bucket head system) as well as the lights inside the chamber. I piped in the air controls next to it so everything is in the same basic area. Certainly makes it easier. I’m planning to do something similar for my permanent laser station (when eventually I create the space for it). Nicely done!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

It’s always something, isn’t it? Nice solution!

May you have the day you deserve!

Thank you all for the nice comments. I do this all the time. I'll be going along and hit something that bugs me and I stop,. shift gears to remedy it and move on!

Thanks, Ivan. I do love variety and as soon as I think of something I need for my shop  to  make things easier, I set out to make it. I haves such a stock of parts and wood , I rarely have to buy anything. This switch gets used almost every day.
I see you sure get a variety of thing to make too...Isn't it great ????????????

Cheers, my friend, Jim
