Mantle Cross

This is a piece I made for someone's mantle. It is a cross made from Olive  wood  and is on an Olive base and backed by Saguaro cactus. The cactus is the skeleton of the arm of a Saguaro that is maybe 200 years old. They don't get the first arm until about 80 yrs old and some have 10 arms.
The cross is 12" high and the overall height of the piece is 18".  All of the worm tracks in the natural edge on the base were filled with blue azurite inlay. It has a satin finish.

Really nicely done!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

I can't keep "the roadkill cafe" out of my mind, it has a vibe. Nice work with all of the elements Jim.
That’s fantastic. What a great mantle piece
Thank you all for the nice comments.

Hi Barbara, The cross has two dowels and one screw up from the bottom...No glue.
