Box with screw on top

I have wanted to make small containers on my lathe that had screw on tops for a long time. I was too cheap to purchase the $350+ tool so instead I decided to use glass bottles with screw on tops. I looked online and found several style bottles available, but it dawned on me to see if these would sell in a smoke shop or dispensary. I was able to get my hands on several glass jars from the dispensary, so I’ll make a few and see if they are interested.

That's a good idea John - both the use of jars and where to display them.
Thanks Steve, we'll see.

looks great john, i think those would sell well if priced right ?

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Nice hack!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Larry, I have no idea what to price them at. I'll probably ask the shop owner what he thinks. If it sounds reasonable, it'll give me something to do with some of the things I make.🙄

Thanks Ryan, I'm still working on it.

Nice box John. So is that a little somethin somethin box? Good idea to put in a bottle, easier to clean out if cleaning out was necessary.

Plenty of online options for smallish jar/vials, and a HUGE price range. A lot of them are same, but less than a buck, and a lot are many many bucks, so if you get after many of these, look around some online.
Really nice turning John!
Using the jar as a liner probably cuts off 50% + of the work compared to fitting your own threads.

You are almost at a miniature wood keg! Lots of applications for marketing as one realizes how much boutique stuff comes in generic jars. Just need to figure out a way to mass produce.
Thanks George, yes I made these for storing marijuana. Almost all the states are making it legal and I thought these might sell in head shops. I don't know what else people might want to store in them and I can make any size as you know because of the bottles available.

Thank you Bruce, the biggest problem is these still take a long time to produce because of all the glue ups. Maybe I need to make one with fewer pieces. Also I'm not sure I have the best game plan as far as what procedure to do first. I found myself going back and forth because of doing things out of sequence. Hopefully the next one will go smoother.
