Galette Puzzle.

Boys and Girls,

This is another instalment in my latest “Packing Puzzle” collection, but without a peek-a-boo Perspex window. This one was designed by Osanori Yamamoto and rated by some as a level 8 (out of 10) puzzle.
I consider it a cutesey looking package made somewhat more difficult as it is hidden behind an opaque box with two opening that permit insertion of the pieces.  I can’t say “random insertion” as it is obvious to most that the large shapes just won’t fit through the small opening, no matter how you orientate either the box or the piece.
Giving the BS some respite this time, I’m still packing this blog out using a friendly canine,
due to lack of content and happy snaps.

Another ƃuᴉɹǝǝuᴉƃuǝ ǝsɹǝʌǝɹ from down-under feat in SketchUp from the advertised pictures downloaded from the Internet,
and created this model,

The pieces are laminated out of 6mm MDF with a base dimension of 12mm. The box is out of 3mm MDF and sized to allow a 1mm clearance in all 3D and the two openings.

No build  parerphenalia, so the Fe$tool ear pods are still in place for fear of deafening cheers.
Ha… I didn’t lie, no camera film was wasted during the construction of this puzzle, however, the freebie handouts, short of actual puzzles, are still available in the form of the model  from the 3DW,

and the stand alone A4 PDF solution… and, if you cock up the assembly of the box and mirror it (as someone who shall remain nameless did), the southpaw solution which was reported by a disgruntled recipients of one version of these puzzles..

This puzzle can easily be made out of solids as is obvious from the plagiarised picture.
Now people may think this puzzle is ho-hum, however, the $71.99CAN price tag may draw a tad more attention for using up some of those scraps lying about… and of course the upcoming Chrissy prezzies
The hard work of measuring and design outlay has already been done and Aussieland is a tad too far to drive to hand over my commission… so off your rrrs.

For those keeping stats… 23 down, 57 to go.

Ok, I can guess some insertion and turning is required, but can brute force be deftly applied or is that cheating?

Really great way to create some stocking stuffers to pass out, but I don;t know if they will cheer or curse you!

Great work (and write up) Duck!
Brute force is never recommended unless applied with mittens on... however, a razor sharp whittling knife wouldn't go astray.

Very creative, as usually ducky.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Thx R'Gi, but unfortunately not my creation... just my version of plagiarism.

You could make a puzzle where the trick is to take it apart (ala Kel Snake).
For packaging simplicity, the instructions could be placed inside.
Tis one looks complicated...

Or be like the originals... apparently they come without instructions.
I've received a few green bum (grassy arse) PMs on my 3DW models from owners getting the solution... although there are already YouTube solution videos posted by others.

This is actually less complex than some of my easy looking ones.
