6 Disc Box Puzzle.

Boys and Girls,

Just for a change of pace for me, out of left field I thought about
posting a new project about a puzzle, but after the thought bubble burst
it turned into reality… so here is my latest packing puzzle, thanks to the kind contribution by Dutchy… and before yazall start ganging up on the poor defenceless Dutchman for his misguided benevolence… just remember… he has a tank.

Hot off the production line with the buffing wax still cooling, the fingers were twitching to hit the vino-cask keyboard.

After watching a solution video on the Internet, not the one forwarded by Dutchy, but another one on the same page, it was off to Sketchup
and then just,

Won’t bore you with details of the build as it has been covered by maybe 1 or 2 of my past projects (unless it may have slipped peoples mind), however, I begrudgingly decided to bypass my dowel alignment (of the discs) to remove that unsightly dowel
and endow it with a more salubrious insignia,

When it was finished/assembled and solved, all the revealing documentation and pictures that accompanied the puzzle reeked of the solution (from the top down view),

To maintain some sense of puzzle integrity, I changed to view to a more side on picture,
which I thought looked absolute crappy.

Back to the drawing board, I re-designed… (SWMBO’s view of a LBD re-design
)…. the box to incorporate a lid
much like the slide in Perspex in my Raya Box (“Y”) series, which will keep the “solution” from prying eyes.

As with all my packing puzzles (so far kept a patented secret), the box and pieces (missiles) were buffed using my Beall Buffing system… which gave them a great shiny appearance, however, a PITA to execute… I call the pieces “missiles” as many times the speed of the buffer caught a top edge which had me scrambling on all fours looking for that flung piece in places that I had trouble reaching... no smart rrrrs comments.

The basic measurements are 24mm discs and the box 37mm³… which is 1.5 x disc dia. + 1mm wiggle space.  For anyone attempting this in imperial, the maths are simple and the build is also, if you omit the lid…

3DW models…
-          Without the lid,

-          With the lid,

Both include the solution in scenes, however, if you’d prefer the “written word”, the appropriate “solution” can be found here.

Might be time to consider some stocking stuffers for the kiddies (and you kiddies/juveniles at heart) for the forthcoming Xmas (no bloody WOKE [happy] “holidays” here)… hell Santa’s nearly here again… with his ethane producing reindeers… holy “wokism/climate change”

For all those that got down this far... thanks.

The lid is good!   Nice one.

Square peg into a round hole turned on its head!

In my mind, all these latest puzzles are perfect practice to get all my bits of assorted small stuff into their organizing boxes.
LBD,

Interesting Puzzle.  The solution is a puzzle within a puzzle.  stretched my mind.

I’m afraid all the kids I know would be frightened by this image.
Are you sure this wouldn’t be better for Halloween?👻

Thanks guys... in all sincerity they are more a mind enhancer than just an MDF cut out,

Thank the gods that Holloween is a Yankee tribute... if it became local doctrine, I'd be 100% employed...  I like being retired...

Hmmm... Why do my grandkids run away?... I keep blaming the MIL!... gods curse bless her soul!
