Scraps Really Are a Myth

A guy doing some yard work for us gave me a couple small cedar slabs. I'd just gotten my first lathe and the cedar looked like it would lend itself to a bowl. Accordingly, I bandsawed a piece out of the slab to the end of making a bowl.

It seemed like a shame to toss the waste, so I sanded it and recommended the guy use one of the globes he had hanging in his yard on it. This is what we ended up with, for his yard.
Nice artwork outs of the scraps!!

Neat!  How was it displayed?  Suspended or sitting on a surface?  Either way, nice way to use all of the cedar.
He had it suspended on a couple posts with an crossbeam over them.
Slick!!!

Kelly, you know what they say. The EYE see's all. Really cool in a Twilight Zone kind of way. The fact it was scrap is even cooler. Nice work.
